What does each module include?

  • Students will be guided through the changes and confusions which accompany sexual development, and conjointly encouraged to reflect on the expectations and misconceptions around sex and relationships that are perpetuated by society and media. They will emerge with a deep understanding of how to make safe, dignified choices when it comes to sex and relationships, and learn to respect their peers with different cultural and religious values, as well as their peers who are exploring their sexuality or gender identity. 

  • Students will address the stigma around mental illness on a local and global scale and be provided with the skills and strategies to manage and express their emotions and maintain good mental health. THey will develop an intersectional view of mental health and illness that will encourage them to empathize with and support their peers. 

  • Students will critically engage with the intersections between different identities to better understand the distinct forms of oppression and privilege experienced by individuals in society. The analysis of structural injustice and inequality in Japan and beyond will encourage them to envision a better world and empower them to fight for social justice.

  • Students will develop a strong awareness of the scope and impact of colonialism and imperialism in a global context, with a strong emphasis on the position of Japan and international schools in this narrative. They will acquire the language and theoretical framework to discuss and reflect on how colonialism and present day injustices are interlinked.
